Prof. Dr. Hakan Temeltas and Assist. Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Yilmaz have been collaborating on a joint project with the company "Ford Otosan (Ford Otomotiv Sanayi A.Ş.)," one of the top three exporting companies in Turkiye since 2004. The project is being developed at the Sancaktepe R&D Center of Ford Otosan since November 2023. Within the scope of the project, the focus will be on achieving fully autonomous systems for the integration of mobile robotic systems developed by Ford Otosan into automotive production lines. Key areas of emphasis include localization, the reliability of the localization systems, automatic updating of maps for different zones in factories such as warehouses, mapping of large-scale spaces like the entire production plant, and calibration of LiDARs for eliminating the effects of deviations in production and assembly on autonomous systems. Navigation and control algorithms will be developed for systems that can serve logistics purposes in automotive production lines, specifically addressing the challenges posed by these issues.
