Wearable devices offer opportunities and comfort to those in need of monitoring their vital signals.

Wearable devices offer opportunities and comfort to those in need of monitoring their vital signals. We have recently developed smart glasses to monitor intraocular pressure (IOP). ITU researcher’s solution in devising an IOP monitoring device is a glass–sensor pair, where a passive MEMS pressure sensor is to be implanted into the patient's eye. In another design, we provide non-invasive smart glasses to deduce IOP based on optical triangulation.

Both glasses embark on a laser, a miniaturized camera, multiple lenses and mirrors to deliver/direct and observe the light to and from the cornea. These optoelectronic glasses are capable of conducting measurements in the presence of eye tilt and movement of the glasses with respect to the eye. Our findings were published in IEEE Photonics Technology Letters and Optics Communications (OPTICA) Journals.
